Alicia Fordham is a Registered Acupuncturist and member of the Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia as well the CTCMPAO in Ontario. After completing her Diploma of Acupuncture at Eight Branches Academy of Eastern Medicine, the pan-Canadian exams, and a clinical internship in Toronto, Alicia has worked in community acupuncture, as well as her own private practice, recently opening a multidisciplinary treatment space in the North End of Kjipuktuk/Halifax: sunmoon room.
Understanding that the practice and study of Traditional East Asian Medicine is a life-long undertaking, Alicia continuously pursues advanced continuing education courses, seeking to deepen her understanding and offer new perspectives to her clients. At the foundation of her practice is the belief that all bodies hold innate wisdom, all people deserve care, and healing is collaborative.
Alicia holds a BA in Sociology and Social Anthropology with a minor in history from Dalhousie University and has worked in youth programming (in public parks), art departments (in film), and an events company in New York City. Lauren Hill (she/her) is a Registered Acupuncturist with the Acupuncture & Traditional
Chinese Medicine Association of Nova Scotia (ACTMANS) and a graduate of the
Acupuncture & East Asian Medicine program at the Autumn Institute of Health in Lower
Sackville, NS where she was the recipient of the Rooted in Care award. Before becoming an acupuncturist, Lauren worked as an exercise therapist, kinesiologist, high school science and physical education teacher, and community outreach worker–experiences which gave her a deep appreciation and curiosity for the human body, movement, and resilience.
Lauren’s treatment approach is rooted in compassion and trauma-informed care with
the belief that everyone deserves to feel good in their own body. Lauren often takes a
somatic approach guiding her patients to arrive in the treatment room as they are—slow
down, tune in and breathe with each needle. Any thoughts, feelings and sensations that
may arise during treatments are always welcome. An acupuncture session with Lauren can also include moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, tuina, acupressure and meditation along with
homecare around movement and food therapy. Lauren strives to provide a safe and
inclusive space where consent is ongoing, and patients have autonomy over their own
health.
Lauren can treat a wide range of health concerns including pain, sleep, digestion,
menstrual health and stress management. Her special interest lies in supporting mental-
emotional health and regulating the nervous system, particularly in the ways we hold
and release tension in the body.
Outside the clinic, Lauren is a big nature girl—you’ll find her outdoors enjoying nature
walks, camping, taking in a nice view or in a yoga studio moving her body in fun and
intuitive ways. Lauren is known for her compassionate presence with a touch of
goofiness; she brings warmth and ease into every treatment.
